Guandan Makes Debut in National Mind Sports Games
According to the news from the General Administration of Sport of China’s Card Sports Management Center, the General Administration of Sport of China has included Guandan in the list of events for the 2023 National Mind Sports Games.
According to the news from the General Administration of Sport of China’s Card Sports Management Center, the General Administration of Sport of China has approved the inclusion of Guandan as an exhibition event in the upcoming 5th National Mind Sports Games scheduled for 2023. This marks the first appearance of Guandan in the National Mind Sports Games.
Since its establishment in 2009, the National Mind Sports Games has been a comprehensive sports event for national intellectual projects. Official competitions include Go, Chess, International Chess, Bridge, Gomoku, and International Draughts.
The 5th National Mind Sports Games are set to take place from October 25 to November 4, 2023, in Hefei, Anhui. An official from the General Administration of Sport of China’s Card Sports Management Center, responsible for comprehensive development, mentioned that considering the increasing popularity and enthusiasm for Guandan, the center conducted a thorough assessment and applied to the General Administration of Sport of China to include it as an exhibition event in this edition of the Mind Sports Games. This application received approval.
As an exhibition event at the National Mind Sports Games, the Guandan competition is scheduled to be held in Huai’an, Jiangsu, from October 18 to 19. Approximately 260 participants are expected to compete in three categories: Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. Currently, Huai’an, known as the birthplace of Guandan, is actively preparing to host the exhibition event at the National Mind Sports Games, with all preparations proceeding smoothly.
