On the 23rd, the grand opening ceremony and first match of the second annual Hengyuanxiang Chinese Workers Guandan Championship was held at the Ditan Sports Stadium in Beijing, drawing in a crowd of 312 competitors for the Beijing leg of the event. The ceremony saw a prestigious lineup of attendees, including officials from the National Sports Administration, representatives from national agencies in Beijing, organizers from the provincial and city levels, central and Beijing news media, as well as Olympic champion Wang Yifu, Go grandmaster Cao Dayuan, and basketball legend Sun Fengwu.

During the opening ceremony, Dai Luqiang, the full-time Vice Chairman of the China Enterprise Sports Association (hereinafter referred to as the CES Association), delivered a speech. He stated that the second championship promotes a culture of fairness, equity, health, harmony, and joy in Guandan. Moving forward, the CES Association will continue to spread and elevate Guandan culture, furthering the popularization and development of the sport.

Chen Zhongwei, the Chairman and General Manager of the Hengyuanxiang Group, a partner of the championship, remarked that 2023 could be dubbed the inaugural year of Guandan in China. He expressed his hope for Guandan's inaugural year on a global scale to approach soon, allowing the sport to transcend national boundaries and introduce more people around the world to Chinese culture.

The healthy growth of Guandan requires the collective care of all enthusiasts. In this spirit, the CES Association's Guandan Committee issued a green initiative to all national Guandan enthusiasts, advocating for fair play and joy in the game and leading the way in promoting a healthy and uplifting Guandan culture. At the ceremony, representatives from 19 cities hosting the tournament witnessed the unveiling of the "Green Guandan" emblem, and a representative from the CES Association's Guandan Committee read out the "Green Guandan Initiative."

Starting with this championship, the National Sports Administration's Fitness Qigong Management Center and the China Association for the Elderly will provide support for the event. The Beijing Chess and Card Sports Management Center, the Beijing Chess and Card Sports Association, and the Dongcheng District Sports Activity Center also assisted with the organization of the Beijing leg of the competition.
